Andreas_Rystad.jpg

Andreas Nilssen Skorpen

Project Manager, Rystad Energy

Panel Speaker for Technical Forum by SPE KLS, The New Horizon: A Comprehensive Outlook towards the Energy Transition

Andreas is one of the experts in Rystad Energy on energy transition related questions for E&P companies and have led several projects on related topics in recent time. Andreas have been working with multiple different E&P companies (both locally in SEA and global strategies) to assess the way forward on digitalization, energy transition and conventional activity in oil and gas. He has a keen interest and knowledge on the availability and stickiness of gas in power mix and how gas fired power plants may still be required in net zero scenarios for grid balancing purposes. He has worked a lot with the cost competitiveness of battery storage solutions versus dispatchable storage solutions (gas or hydrogen-based), current research shows that there is no silver bullet for grid balancing and different regional markets will have different ideal solutions.

During the SOGCE session Andreas will participate in a panel discussion on energy transition and talk about the role of gas in the transition both globally and in the SEA region. He will discuss Rystad Energy’s views on the energy trilemma describing the optimal state of the energy system. The system should be a balancing act of affordable, sustainable, and secure sources, throughout the recent years the focused have shifted along each of the verticals, e.g., in the aftermath of the Ukraine invasion energy security have been higher on the agenda than ever before in gas scarce regions such as Europe and the LNG importing regions in Asia.
