Keynote Address on: "Current Overview of the Oil & Gas Industry"

Azmir is the Head of Resource Exploration, Malaysia Petroleum Management, Upstream, PETRONAS effective 1 January 2022. Azmir first joined PETRONAS in 1996 as an Explorationist with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. Since then, he has been involved in several exploration ventures in Malaysia and abroad, including helming leadership positions as the Country Manager of Brunei and Head of Atlantic Basin Studies. He is highly experienced in the commercial and corporate aspects of the business having taken on crucial roles as Head of Upstream Business Development, General Manager at the President & Group CEO’s Office, and Vice President of Strategy and Commercial at PETRONAS Canada in Calgary. Among his notable achievements include the Kelidang Cluster deepwater gas discoveries in Brunei, PETRONAS’ successful entry into Mexico and Gabon, assets high grading in Canada, and the reshaping of the Canada Monetisation Master Plan.


Azmir has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology & Applied Geology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

Mohamad Abu Bakar is currently heading Resource Development Management (RDM) - Sabah in Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), PETRONAS. He oversee all development, production and new opportunities of Sabah assets including the deepwater fields. ​

He has 28 years working experience in PETRONAS, including international assignment in Sudan Operations and Iraq Operations in the area of field development plan, field/reservoir management and surveillance, and production operations. ​

He also spent 4 years of his career in Technology Division in the area of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) studies and researches.

Hazril Izan Bahari

 Speaker for Paper 2: "Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap"

Mr Hazril Izan Bahari is the Acting Director of Strategic Planning in SEDA. He obtained his Bachelor of Information Technology from Open University Malaysia 2011 and Master of Information Technology from University Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) in 2018.

He was also a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) alumni after having completed the Network Specialist Coursework at JICA Okinawa in 2006. En Hazril has over 15 years of working experience in IT including digitalisation in Renewable Energy. He previously managed the ICT projects related to the National Renewable programs such as online Feed-in Tariff, Net Energy Metering and pilot project for peer to peer energy trading.

He is now leading the Strategic Planning Division in SEDA Malaysia and promoting Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap which was launched by the Minister last December 2021. The roadmap provides the policy, action plans and set a target to reach 31% of RE share in the national installed capacity mix by 2025

 Dr.Madana holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering. She is currently the Regional Analyst for Asia Pacific at the Energy Industries Council UK. She is involved in research and analysis of market intelligence across all energy sectors in the APAC region and is a subject matter expert for the hydrogen sector.

Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Wan Ramli Wan Daud FASc is presently a Principal Research Fellow at the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Innovation and Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya (2022-2024). He was formerly the UKM-Petronas Professor of Sustainable Hydrogen Energy at the Fuel Cell Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (December 2019- 2021), was Professor of Chemical Engineering at Department of Chemical & Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1996-2021) and Principal Research Fellow at the Fuel Cell Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2007-2021).

He was born on 27 December 1955 in Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. He went to school at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Conolly, Ipoh (1962-1964), Sekolah Kebangsaan Taiping (1965-1967), Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak, Tanjong Malim and Seremban (1968-1973), Leederville Technical College, Perth, Western Australia (1974), University of Monash, Victoria, Australia and University of Cambridge, U.K. He obtained the BEng degree (First Class Hon.) from the University of Monash, Victoria, Australia in 1978 and the PhD degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom in 1984. 

He is the Founding President of the Malaysian Association of Hydrogen Energy (MAHE) (2018-2021) and President of Academy of Islamic Science Malaysia (2012-). He is a Fellow of Institution of Chemical Engineers (2007-), a Fellow of the Academy of Science Malaysia (2012-) and a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences Malaysia (2022-). 

He is the recipient of the prestigious Merdeka Award 2016 for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, Malaysia’s top award for Malaysian scientists, on 23 September 2016 for research in fuel cells and hydrogen energy. He is also the recipient of the Anugerah Tokoh Akademik Bahasa Melayu 2020, for using Bahasa Melayu in teaching and research in science and technology in Malaysia.

He is one of the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds and Highly Cited Researcher in engineering six times in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021 by Clarivate Analytics for the highest number of highly cited papers. 

He promoted the Hydrogen Economy by formulating the first Malaysian Roadmap for Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cells in 2006, the Blueprint of Fuel Cells Industry in Malaysia  in 2017 and the second Malaysian Hydrogen Roadmap due to launched by 2022.

His main research areas are green hydrogen energy such as photoelectrochemical (PEC), electrolytic and microbial electrolytic water splitting; fuel cells technology such as proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), microbial fuel cells (MFC) and direct fuel cells (DFC); and sustainable industrial drying technology such as solar, spray, drum, and fluidized bed dryers. 


He published 414 articles in international journals, 401 articles in proceedings of international conferences and 235 articles in proceedings of national conferences. He is cited in WOS 11,401 times with H-index 55; in SCOPUS 12,538 times with H-index 59, and in Google Scholar 17,954 times with H-index 68.

Adzmir Abd. Rahman joined Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (SEC) in 2003 as a Planning Engineer.  He assumed to the position of Assistant Manager of Gas Planning and Marketing in 2004.  In 2009, he was assigned to a new responsibility as Technical Services Manager and was responsible for the development of Malaysia’s 1st Virtual Pipeline System (Compressed Natural Gas) in KKIP Sabah.  He was then promoted as Divisional Head for Business Development and Gas Trading in 2013 and was a key member for the development of 1st LNG Facilities outside Bintulu located in KKIP.  He was appointed to his current position in 2019.

He began his career in 1998 when he joined Sawit Kinabalu Berhad as Assist Mill Manager. Later in 2000, joined an independent power producer (IPP) as Operation Engineer.

Currently, he also serves as director at SEC Gas Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of SEC that owned and operate LNG facilities in KKIP.  He holds a Certificate of Competency in natural gas distribution by the Energy Commission and a DOSH certificate steam and ICE Engineer.

Adzmir Abd. Rahman was a Sabah State government scholar and graduated from the University of Portsmouth, England in 1997 with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) and holds a Master Degree in Business Administration.

Noriani Yati Mohamad

Speaker for Paper 6 on: " Carbon Capture, Usage & Storage"

Noriani Yati Mohamad is currently Head, Resource Development & Management for Sarawak. She focuses on strategizing the overall development and management of oil & gas resources in Sarawak, Malaysia.


Since joining PETRONAS in 1994 as a Production Technologist, Yati has held various positions as Reservoir Surveillance Engineer, Joint Venture Engineer, Planning Manager and Well Intervention Manager.


After 20 years with PETRONAS Carigali, she joined Malaysia Petroleum Management in 2014 to assume the role of host government and manage Petroleum Arrangement contractors. She played a key role in the unitization of several Malaysia-Brunei fields and strategizing the integrated development of sour gas fields in Sarawak. She is currently leading the establishment of  PETRONAS Upstream CCS framework and Operating Model.


In 2020, Yati became the first female to be appointed as Skill Group Advisor for Petroleum Engineering and is currently the only female technical advisor in PETRONAS.

Regional Director - Asia Pacific, Energy Industries Council (EIC)

Moderator for Panel Session on "Energy Transition"

Azman is responsible for all activities relating to the EIC Kuala Lumpur office. He joined EIC in 2014 to establish the KL Office from scratch. Prior to 2014, EIC APAC was located in Singapore for 14 years. Azman has been instrumental in growing EIC APAC from a relatively unknown organisation outside of Singapore to a recognised body representing UK’s energy supply chain within the Asia Pacific region. Azman has relatively good network with most of the energy players in the region including the UK’s Department of International Trade equivalents, international oil and gas companies, national oil and gas companies, power developers and operators, international manufacturers and consultants operating within the region.


Prior to joining The EIC, Azman was the Chief Executive of a Malaysian oil and gas company, one of the major fabricators for PETRONAS and a regional shipbuilder.

Dr Wei-nee Chen

Vice President - New Energy Ventures, Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad

Dr. Wei-nee Chen holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury, a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She was formerly the Chief Strategic Officer of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) of Malaysia from October 2011 until September 2020. From December 2005 to mid-2011, Dr. Wei-nee served in the capacity of a Technical Advisor in the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project; a project by the United Nations Development Program and administered by the Malaysian Government. Prior to coming back to Malaysia, she worked in New Zealand for 10 years in various industries. Today, Dr Wei-nee is known for her deep passion for renewable energy and energy transition. On 16th September 2020, she joined Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, Malaysia's first publicly listed independent oil & gas exploration and production company, to pursue her passion in energy transition under the capacity of the Vice-President of New Energy Ventures. Dr Wei-nee currently serves as a member of Industry Advisory Panel to the Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA), and the PhD External Advisory Committee of Sunway University.

Lye Chan joined Shell in 2007 and has 19 years of industry experience. She
started her career as an Instrument and Systems Engineer with Shell’s first
commercial Gas to Liquid (GTL) plant in Shell MDS, Bintulu. Then after she
took on variety assignments across Downstream, Integrated Gas and Heavy
Oil In-situ Projects. She is a highly motivated engineering professional with
projects and operational experience.

Lye Chan is currently attached with Shell Malaysia Upstream, leading the Transformation team that works to materialise key transformation levers that strengthen upstream assets' operational excellence foundation, while enabling the pathway for in-country and in-business Energy Transition. Her portfolio includes:

▪ Overseeing and integrating activities across Upstream Malaysia business, anchoring on delivering digital and technology programmes, driving continuous improvements, and implementing other innovative solutions for productivity improvement.
▪ Driving new corporate culture and seeing through the implementation of leadership frameworks.
▪ Developing the country and business pathways for Energy Transition which includes maturing the
delivery of carbon abatement activities, supporting people capability building and enabling
frameworks that encourages low carbon solution ideation to surface. Additionally, responsible to
mature potential inter-company collaborations on Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) opportunities for new field developments in Malaysia and regional carbon sequestration.

Lye Chan holds a Master’s degree in Control Systems Engineering from University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering from University Teknologi, Malaysia.  She is married to Glenn and has two children.

Abdul Aziz Othman

Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) is nation’s lead advocate for the natural gas industry, playing a prominent role in promoting engagement, discourse and dialogue with key stakeholders to develop a vibrant and sustainable gas industry, to fuel Malaysia's socio-economic growth and ensuring pragmatic energy transition towards a low carbon economy.


As President of MGA, Abdul Aziz brings over 33 years of extensive experience and knowledge across the energy sector, particular in the gas industry.


Given his extensive exposure and knowledge, Abdul Aziz has been appointed as the International Gas Union’s Regional Coordinator for South & Southeast Asia to strengthen the region’s position in the global gas industry.


He is currently the Vice President of Gas & Power, PETRONAS and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Offer of PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB). He is also a Non-Independent Executive Director at PGB, in addition to directorship in several other companies in PETRONAS.


He started his career in PETRONAS as an engineer at the Peninsular Gas Utilisation Project (PGU), the 2,623km gas transmission pipeline network spanning the entire Peninsular Malaysia owned and operated by PGB. He was later promoted to head the operations of the cogeneration facilities at PGB before his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, Vinyl Chloride Malaysia Sdn Bhd. He then served as the Vice President, Strategy and New Ventures, PETRONAS Energy Canada Limited prior to his current appointment.


Aziz holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University George Washington, United States of America and has attended the INSEAD Programme at INSEAD Business School.

Ramanrao Abdullah

Mr Ramanrao bin Abdullah was appointed as Group Chief Executive Officer of Deleum on 1 July 2021 and appointed as Director to the Board on 8 July 2021.


He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from University of Malaya and a Master in Business Administration from University of Leicester, United Kingdom. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).


Mr Ramanrao has built a career in the oil and gas industry spanning more than 26 years, all of which have been with Halliburton. His various roles in the company included those in the Finance, Business Development and Operation workstreams before assuming the position of Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton Asia Pacific in 2014. Following this, he was appointed to a newly created role as Vice President of Business Development for Asia Pacific and Asian National Oil Companies for their Global Operations in 2018.


Prior to his career in the energy sector, he was a practicing accountant in an audit firm in Bath, England for six years.


A leading figure in the industry, Mr Ramanrao previously served on the Research Advisory Council (RAC) of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and continues his association with the university as an adjunct lecturer since 2019. He previously also served as a member of the Advisory Council for Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Asia Pacific.

Mr Ramanrao’s extensive experience in both the corporate and regulatory framework of the oil and gas industry, not just in Malaysia and regionally but also globally, as well as his training as a chartered accountant, has equipped him with a comprehensive range of diverse competencies relevant to this sector.

Keynote Address

Mr Thomas Logijin is 55 years old.  Married with 3 children.  He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, Selangor with Bachelor of Antropolgy and Sociology (Second Upper Class Honours) in 1992.

He served as Principal Assistant at the State Civil Service Department for 12 years before being appointed as Tambunan Assistant District Officer in 2005.  Mr Thomas was appointed as Tongod District Officer in 2011 and in 2014 as Tambunan District Officer.

He held the post of Deputy Director (Macro) at the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) in 2018 before being transferred on promotion as Deputy Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Industrial Development.

On December 2020, Mr Thomas was appointed as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industrial Development until now.

He was recently appointed as member to sit in the Main Committee for Joint coordination Committee (JCC)  between the Sabah State Government and PETRONAS and also as Co-Chairman in the Sub-Committee 4: Oil & Gas Services and Equipment Industry.

Mr Thomas was selected by the Sabah State Public Services Department to attend overseas courses such as :

James Chan

James Chan is the Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), a
government agency that was established in 2011 to advance Malaysia’s Oil and Gas,
Services and Equipment (OGSE) industry.

Before his current position, James was attached to InvestKL as Senior Manager – Investor
Relations from 2013 to 2015. In this role, he was instrumental in crafting initiatives to
attract MNCs and other international companies to set up their regional operations in Kuala
Lumpur. Prior to this position, James worked at UK Trade & Investment (now renamed UK’s
Department for International Trade) at the British High Commission, Kuala Lumpur for 17
years as the Senior Trade Manager promoting UK products and services to Malaysia,
focussing on the aerospace and oil & gas sectors.

An economist by training, James has a great deal of experience in investment promotion
and trade facilitation.

Haji Abdul Kadir Abdullah @ Haji Damsal is an Advocate & Solicitor in Sabah.  He obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B) from the University of London.  He earned the title, Barrister-at-Law from the King's Inn of the Republic of Ireland.  He also holds Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the National University of Singapore.  He is currently enrolling as a Ph.D student in Political Economy in UiTM.

He was appointed First Class Magistrate in 1985 in Sandakan.  He has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of three Government Linked Companies (GLC) of three different industries namely, Timber, Rice and Oil & Gas.

He is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of State GLC, Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC), whose Chairman is the Chief Minister of Sabah.

In 2022, he is appointed by the Federal Ministry of Education as CEO@Faculty for 2 years.

Ir.A.Sunderaeswaran Nayar commenced work with Sabah Energy
Corporation Sdn. Bhd. in 1982 as Mechanical Engineer in the pre-
construction and construction phases of the Sabah Gas Utilisation
Project (SGUP) Gas Grid. In 1989 he became Deputy Engineering
Manager of the Engineering Division of Sabah Gas Industries Sdn. Bhd.
wherein he served in the operations phase of the SGUP Gas Grid.
Subsequently Ir.A.Sunderaeswaran Nayar joined Sarawak Shell Bhd. in
1992 and served both onshore and offshore in various capacities. He
later worked for Nippon Oil Exploration (M) Ltd. executing project work
on Helang platform , Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. as Senior Mechanical
Engineer in the Bokor Re-Development Project Phase 3 (Enhanced Oil
Recovery) , and then as Project Engineering Manager with PT Technip
Indonesia in 2013. Pursuant to this he served as Felo Utama from 2016
to 2021 in Universiti Malaysia Sabah in the Faculty of Engineering.
Ir. A.Sunderaeswaran Nayar presently works for engineering consultancy
firms in Kota Kinabalu.

Ir.A.Sunderaeswaran Nayar studied Mechanical Engineering at the
University of Tasmania , Australia on a Colombo Plan scholarship and
graduated in 1974. He was sent by Lembaga Letrik Sabah to study for a
Post Graduate Diploma in Gas Engineering at the Institute of Gas
Technology, Chicago , USA and graduated in 1980.

““Recent Advances in South China Sea's Metocean and Seismic Event”

Prof Ir Dr Mohd Shahir Liew graduated with BSCE (1983) and PhD (1988) 
from Texas specializing in structural dynamics and stochastic processes. He 
had served as Managing Director of MNCs and consulting outfits in the 
region predominantly in capital and research projects and facilities 
management. He had also served as expert witness on forensic engineering 
to several key governmental projects. His first start up was in 2006 and 
thereafter successfully set up the production plant in the Indonesia front 
which has since been listed.

After 23 years in the industry, he joined the academia, namely UTP in 2009, 
to teach and to share his knowledge. He became the Head of the 
Department in 2011 and promoted as the Dean of the Faculty of Geoscience 
and Petroleum Engineering in 2014. In 2017, he was appointed as the 
Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization
(RIC). His tenacity as a researcher, educator, innovator, and business 
capability saw quantum leap in RIC revenue for UTP.

Professor Shahir specialized in the design and dynamic aspects of offshore 
facilities, and seismic impact of subsea structures. He innovated several 
technological advancements in digital processing for offshore facilities 
integrity and reliability monitoring. Professor Shahir currently supports 
several PETRONAS business units as well as other oil and gas outfits. As a 
committed proponent of energy sector, he assumes the position as Chairman 
of the Energy Institute, Malaysia and have involved in numerous initiatives in 
artificial intelligence. He spearheads several strategic initiatives as Chairman 
for Sectorial Training Committee for Oil, Gas & Energy Sub-sector (HRDF STC 
17), Vice President for Malaysian Structural Steel Association (MSSA) and 
Deputy Chairman for Technical Committee at SIRIM on MS Offshore 
Structures. He has completed many fundamental research and consultancy 
works which includes the commercialized SHM Poseidon that won top 
accolade in the OTCA 2018.

As a strong advocate in research with industrial applications, he has 
authored 386 published articles, including refereed journals, conferences, 
and policy papers as well as co-authored 2 technical books. He has more 
than 2,611 citations with 24 h-index as well as 67 i10-index. Under his 
supervision, 45 post graduate students have since graduated and is now 
supervising 14 post graduate students

Encik Jamalludin Bin Obeng is Managing Director of Perdana Petroleum Berhad
("PPB") since 1st October 2021. He is also the President of MOSVA, Malaysia Offshore Support Vessel Owners' Association, Vice President of MOGSC
(Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council) and the mentor for the Marine
Logistics Working Group (MLWG) for the council.

Encik Jamalludin Bin Obeng has more than 30 years of working experience in
the oil and gas industry. He started his career with PETRONAS in 1990 at
Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and was involved in operations, corporate
strategies and business planning, both locally and in Vietnam. In 2000, he
joined Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad initially as the Business Development
Manager and subsequently was promoted to Group Manager, Procurement. In
2003, he moved to Kencana HL Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Kencana Petroleum
Group as General Manager, Business Development. He was subsequently promoted
to Chief Operating Officer in 2008 and a year after was promoted to the
position of Managing Director, a position he held until 2012.

Encik Jamalludin joined MMHE Sdn Bhd as the General Manager, Business
Development and Commercial in 2013 and then moved to Petra Energy Berhad as
Group Business Development Director in 2015. In 2017, he took the position
of Chief Commercial Officer in Icon Offshore Berhad providing leadership and
direction to the Group Commercial team.

He graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1986 with a BA in
Economics, and from University of San Francisco in 1988 with an MA in
Educational Computing.

Haji Bacho Bin Pilong, 57 hailed from Tawau, and had his early education at SRJK Wallace Bay,
Pulau Sebatik Tawau. He was awarded with PETRONAS scholarship to pursue his study and
obtained his Degree in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Texas, Austin, USA in 1987.
He had also attended Senior Management Development Program at INSEAD in Singapore and
Advance Management Program at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, USA in 2008 and 2013

He is currently the Senior Vice President of Project Delivery & Technology, the position he holds
since August 2021. He started his career with PETRONAS in April 1992 as a Process Engineer
at Sabah Operations and was among the group of pioneers to operate the Samarang field.
Effective 1 August 2021, he assumes the role of Senior Vice President, PD&T and a member of
Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Over the years, Haji Bacho has diligently served the Group through numerous international
assignments in Vietnam, the Republic of Sudan and South Sudan and has held various senior
leadership positions, including Vice President, Malaysia Assets, Vice President, International
Assets and Senior General Manager, Production and Operations Management at Malaysia
Petroleum Management. He was also appointed President of two (2) joint operating companies
in the Republic of Sudan and South Sudan.

Among Haji Bacho’s more notable achievements include leading the Cost Reduction Alliance
(CORAL) 2.0, an industry-led collaboration which has now been recognized by the World
Economic Forum for possible replications in other regions. During his tenure as Vice President,
International Assets, he led the international assets portfolio high-grading with divestments in
Algeria, Cameroon, Vietnam and Mauritania. Haji Bacho successfully secured a production
sharing contract extension for the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) in the Republic
of South Sudan and restored production after five (5) years of shutdown during a challenging
crisis period.

International Assets’ footprint has also grown under his watch with the entry into new countries
such as the Sultanate of Oman, the Federative Republic of Brazil and Australia. Additionally, he
headed the migration of White Nile Petroleum Operating Company (WNPOC) from Khartoum to
Juba where PETRONAS became the 1st foreign oil company to set up a base in the Republic of
South Sudan. During his short stint in Corporate Strategic Planning, he contributed to the creation
of Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd, a company that specializes in marginal and mature asset
development and production.

Haji Bacho currently sits on the board of PETRONAS companies such as PETRONAS Technical
Services Sdn. Bhd. and Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn. Bhd. He was appointed by the

Ministry of Education to be part of the Academia-Industry Talent Exchange Programme AI-
xCHANGE: CEO @ Faculty Programme 1.0 “Learn From The Pros” for Universiti Malaysia

Sarawak starting January 2019. He was accorded with Adjunct Professorship by Universiti
Malaysia Sabah (UMS) given his deep passion in learning institution to shape the oil and gas
industry. He is also a speaker in various industry forums such as Society of Petroleum Engineers
(SPE), Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), Asia Oil & Gas Conference (AOGC)

Faiz is a former Wireline Services Field Engineer with Baker Hughes and he has completed the
intensive 6-month engineering training in Dubai, U.A.E. He acquired field experience in
PETRONAS's Exploration & Production project at Sabah's offshore.

Graduated with Bachelor Degree of Petroleum Engineering from Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia (UTM), he has also served as the President of Society of Petroleum Engineers UTM
Student Chapter and led it to win the global recognition and award by Society of Petroleum
Engineers (SPE) International; 2013 Outstanding Student Chapter (only 7 recipients in the
world) and 2013 Gold Standard Award.

He is a HRD Corp certified trainer, a registered Professional Technologist (Ts.) with Malaysia
Board of Technologist (MBOT) and a member of Energy Institute (EI), Society of Petroleum
Engineers (SPE) and Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC).
