THE Sabah Oil, Gas, Energy Conference and Exhibition (SOGCE) saw its 12th edition focussed on collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth in Sabah’s Oil, Gas and Energy (OGSE) sector.
Organising Chairperson Dolly Jimayol described SOGCE 2025 as more than just an industry event.
“SOGCE is a strategic platform for connection, collaboration, and capacity-building.
“This year, under the theme ‘Fostering Collaboration, Paving Sustainable Opportunities’, we aim to stimulate meaningful dialogue, foster new partnerships and highlight the pivotal role of energy transition in Sabah and Malaysia’s future,” she said.
This year’s conference programme featured a thoughtfully curated line-up of sessions covering a wide spectrum of timely and forward-looking topics.
Among the highlights were sessions on collaboration and co-creation to explore growth opportunities in the energy expansion era; strategies to catalyse local economic growth; the role of natural gas as a clean and efficient transition fuel; and a mid-term review of the National OGSE Industry Blueprint 2021–2030.
Other topics included the emergence of the blue economy, the energy scenario for a sustainable future in Sabah with emphasis on technology, research and development, hydrogen and carbon dioxide, as well as sustainability pathways in the oil, gas and energy industry.
The conference featured keynote speakers: Datuk Ir Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management, Petronas, and Connor Dunn, President of ConocoPhillips Malaysia. In addition, Datuk Annuar Ayub, Chairman of Sabah Energy Corporation, also delivered a special address titled “Empowering Local Communities through Sustainable Energy Collaboration.”
The exhibition segment featured close to 100 participating companies. Petronas led the pack as the Strategic Corporate Partner and Main Exhibitor, joined by other industry giants such as Shell Malaysia, ConocoPhillips and Asian Supply Base. Trade visitors are expected from across Malaysia and internationally from Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, the UK and the United States.
