Zuhaida Zulkifli

Zuhaida Zulkifli better known as Aida is presently the Senior General Manager of Governance & Strategic Relations for Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), PETRONAS.


Prior to joining PETRONAS in 2000, she was with the assurance division of KPMG KL for 3 years. She started her career in PETRONAS as an executive in PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB). In 2005, she was transferred as the Manager for Group Accounts and Policies (Group Accounts and Services Division), principally responsible for the consolidated PETRONAS Group financial reporting requirements. In this position she also played an instrumental role towards the first time adoption of FRS for PETRONAS Groupwide during Financial Year 31 March 2007. She subsequently became the Senior Manager in Group Accounts and Services Division looking after PETRONAS International Corporation Limited (PICL) Group of Companies. In 2009, she was posted to Brisbane, Australia as the Head of Finance for PETRONAS Australia Pty Ltd (PAPL) following the investment in the Gladstone LNG project. During this time, Zuhaida played a central role towards achieving FID for the project including the establishment of the Brisbane office.


Upon returning from Brisbane in 2013, she took on the role of General Manager for Business Planning and Performance Reporting, Upstream Finance in the Upstream Business of PETRONAS, before assuming her current role in 2016.


Zuhaida has previously held board membership in subsidiaries of PAPL and EP O&M Services Sdn Bhd. Currently she is a Board Member for ENERGAS Insurance (L) Limited.


Zuhaida is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and graduated from Monash University, Melbourne in 1997. She is married with 2 children.

Umarani Muniandy

Director, Oil & Gas and Maritime Technology Division, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)

"Opportunities in Oil & Gas Sector in Malaysia"

M. Umarani joined the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in 1991 and her key responsibilities have been in promoting investments in the manufacturing and services sectors.  Currently she serves as Director of Oil & Gas and Maritime Technology Division, a division dedicated to promote and develops of oil & gas services and equipment manufacturing; and shipbuilding and ship repair (SBSR) sectors in Malaysia.

Wyomia Totu Tsai

Contract and Procurement Manager for Upstream, Shell Malaysia

"Business Opportunities for SMEs in Oil and gas Industry and related industries”

Wyomia Totu Tsai is currently the Contracting and Procurement Manager and Associate Subject Matter Expert in Hydrocarbon Information Performance Management for Sarawak Shell Berhad based in Miri. Hailing from Penampang, Sabah, she joined Shell Malaysia in 2004 as an Integrated Activity Planner and her 15 years services in the company has taken her to various roles in the company, mainly in Production - Upstream.

 

Wyomia holds a Mechanical Engineering Degree (Hons.) from Universiti Tenaga Nasional and enjoys crafting and travelling.

Dato’ Paduka Ts. Udani Bin Dato’ Seri Mohamed Daud

Dato’ Udani has been in the Oil & Gas industry for over 30 years since he started as a Junior Field Engineer for Schlumberger Wireline & Testing in 1984. During his 15 years with Schlumberger, he held various field, marketing and management positions in Asia, the Middle East and the North Sea. He than spent the next 5 years heading and developing the OPI Group a Malaysian NDT specialist provider to the Oil & Gas industry. Since 2005 he has been developing and managing his own business interests.


He is a Council Member and Industry Liason for the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) in addition to being a professional Technologist under MBOT the Malaysia Board of Technologists and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and sits on the Advisory Committee to the Sabah Oil & Gas Conference & Exhibition (SOGCE).


Today he is the Executive Chairman and primary shareholder of the Max Energy Group, a Malaysian group of SME companies providing various products and services to the Oil & Gas industry focusing on specialist services and technologies for asset integrity, production improvement and offshore brown field solutions. Dato’ Udani also holds directorships in several other oil & gas service companies involved in well construction.


Dato’ Udani was conferred the DJMK royal award by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kelantan in March 2007 which carries the title Dato’ Paduka.

Prithipal Singh

Prithipal is the General Manager of Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd, based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Starting as a graduate Petroleum Engineer in 2002 working on the Sabah Inboard oilfields, his 17 years career in Shell has taken him to various roles and places in the Company including overseas assignments in The Netherlands and China. A strong believer in skill pool development through on the job training, Prithipal sees the need for the industry and policy makers to work together to create an eco-system where aspiring local Sabahans are given opportunities to develop career in the oil and gas sector.


Prithipal completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska and has an Executive MBA from Tsinghua University, China & INSEAD, France.

Dr. Mohamed Ackiel Mohamed

Vice President, Special Projects, Serba Dinamik Group Berhad

As the Vice President of Special Projects (Training & Education) for Serba Dinamik Group Bhd, Dr. Mohamed Ackiel has been leading the company’s initiative in Mixed Reality & Smart Plant Maintenance Solutions since 2017. He is well-versed in the field of Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Big Data, as he was one of the key taskforce members in Malaysia TVET IR 4.0 Taskforce for both UniKL and Polytech institutes in Malaysia. He has participated in numerous conferences and seminars as a key note speaker as well as presenter on topics related to Industrial Revolution 4.0 as well as Engineering related Topics. A qualified welding inspector with CSWIP 3.0 and 3.1 qualifications, he is also the Chairman of the working group for welding inspection bodies at Standards Malaysia. He is also currently the deputy chairman in the welding Committee and a Council member in IMM as well a member of the commission IX and XIII in the international institute of welding (IIW).With a combined industrial and academia experience of over 15 years, he is currently pursuing the development and implementation of a one stop SMART digital solution for plant Turnaround and Shutdowns.

Suresh Sinnappu

Suresh’s career in the industry spans over 18 years, including 5 years as Wireline Field Engineer with stints in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Shale Gas in Texas Land and Mumbai Offshore. The remainder 12 years were focused on Regional Customer Management roles based in Kuala Lumpur & Jakarta. He is currently the Country Lead for BHGE in Malaysia.

Ts. Mohd Azmi Mohd Noor

Head HSSE, Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company Sdn bhd, KPOC

Session Chairperson

Azmi is the Head of HSSE for Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company, KPOC. KPOC is a jointly operated company between Petronas, Shell and ConocoPhilip, and operates the Kebabangan field cluster off the coast of Western Sabah. He has 35 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, 26 of which are with Shell and 7 years with Petronas. He is the President of the Institute of Materials Malaysia and Fellow member. IMM is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of materials and materials related technology. He has broad experience in the Oil & Gas ranging from Design, Operations and Technology management. His past achievement included leading the world’s biggest brown field project on asset integrity and process safety for Petronas called Technical Integrity and Process Safety, the TIPS program, and leading the Asia Pacific Region on Maintenance Integrity for Shell. Also lead technology application research in Production Optimisation for the Shell Group.


Azmi has a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Electronics & Control Engineering from Sunderland.


He is also an Associate Fellow Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, UK.
 

Bacho Pilong

Vice President, Malaysia Assets, Upstream, PETRONAS

Bacho hails from Tawau Malaysia and earned his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, USA He then furthered his learning through the Advanced Management Program of INSEAD in Singapore and Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.


Bacho, who is currently the Vice President of Malaysia Assets, joined PETRONAS back in 1992 as a Process Engineer based in Kota Kinabalu He has since progressed in the organization in various technical and leadership positions including overseas postings in Vietnam, Sudan and South Sudan His current portfolio involves managing operations of Upstream assets throughout Malaysia as well as the Malaysia Thailand Joint Development area.


Previously, from January 2017 to May 2019 was the Vice President of International Assets of which its portfolio consists of 15 countries throughout various regions Prior to that, from April 2013 to December 2016 he headed the Production Operations Management department, in Malaysia Petroleum Management MPM).


Among Bacho’s significant achievements includes the establishment of the Cost Reduction Alliance (CORAL) 2.0 that focused on cost optimization in Malaysia as well as his enrollment in the Academia Industry Talent Exchange Programme under the Ministry of Higher Education with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

Mohd Tarmizi Munir

Chief Executive Officer, Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company Sdn Bhd

Tarmizi is the CEO of Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company (KPOC), a joint operating company between PCSB, Shell and ConocoPhillips since November 2015.


He has more than 25 year experiences in oil & gas. He began his career with NAKANO construction in 1989 and MMHE Offshore Engineering & Fabrication in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
He joined Petronas Carigali in 1993, an upstream subsidiary of PETRONAS, as an operations engineer. He held several technical and management positions include offshore installation manager (OIM), asset manager & country manager and senior general manager operations, PETRONAS.


He was appointed as Head of PETRONAS Group HSE in 2010, and then as the Head of Upstream HSE from 2012 to 2015.


A native of Muar, Johor, Tarmizi received his Civil Engineering Degree from Syracuse University, New York.

Benjamin Nair

Director, KASI Malaysia Sdn Bhd

Success Story - Experiences of developing technology base company in Sabah

Mr. Nair has more than 15 years of experience in the oil & gas and maritime sectors where he worked for major energy companies in various technical and commercial roles, which include trading and shipping businesses in global energy markets.


He is a member of the EASTPORT MARINE group of companies directly involved with LNG and Petroleum business units. Between 2008 and 2017, Mr. Nair successfully positioned EASTPORT MARINE as a player for LNG and petroleum transfers. He is also a member of KASI who are specialists in the execution of port and terminal projects including dry bulk, crude oil petroleum, LNG, containers, marinas, breakwaters, approach channels with an emphasis on validation of port design, risk management and maritime modelling and simulation.


Prior to KASI, Mr. Nair was part of the Olefins Trading & Shipping desk for INEOS who are a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. INEOS comprises 17 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. Its production network spans 64 manufacturing facilities in 14 countries throughout the world making it the world’s third largest chemical company with sales today around US$47 billion. His role encompassed technical and commercial management of loading/unloading, transhipping and terminal operations of petro-chemical supply chains throughout Europe covering logistics of gas carriers, tankers, gas barges, and rail tank cars.


Mr. Nair holds an honours degree in Maritime Business and Management and is a member of The Nautical Institute, UK as well as the Royal Institute of Navigation, UK. He has also successfully completed a Naval Architecture course with Lloyds Maritime Academy, UK.

Haravinth Thiruthonder

Technology Custodian, NGL Tech Sdn Bhd

"Multifunctional Production Unit (MPU) for Mature Fields"

A Masters graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, Haravinth is equipped with eight (8) years of industrial experience in process engineering and project management leading a team of multi-discipline engineers in successfully managing the completion of Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) of topside packages including the Crude Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Condensate Recovery System (CRS) for PETRONAS and Vestigo Petroleum among others.  

His experience in process engineering ranges from technology development, process simulation and optimization, P&ID design, sizing calculations, cost benefit analysis, HAZOP participation, site visits and offshore commissioning. He is the technical authority and custodian for the proprietary Sep-iSYS systems which includes the separation system, processing systems and low pressure systems which are all jointly developed and owned by PETRONAS and NGLTech.  
 

Ray Howarth

Ray is the Asia Pacific Engineering Director with over 35 years’ experience in the area of Plant Design and Operations & Maintenance. He has comprehensive experience in understanding the requirements of both Engineering Companies and Owner Operators; and advising on the solutions most suited to those Companies. Ray has been stationed over the years in Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and is currently living in Jakarta. He has been involved in several notable projects such as Hong Kong Airport, Shell Nanhai, BP SECCO, and Petronas during the design, handover and operations & maintenance phases.

Mohd. Mazlan Mokhtar

Deputy Director, Oil & Gas and Maritime Technology, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)

"Championing Sabah Oil & Gas Companies"

Mr. Mazlan Mokhtar joined Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) as Assistant Director in January 2003 and attached to the Electronics Industry Division in MIDA Kuala Lumpur. Previously he worked with several companies and one of the companies is the subsidiary company of Telekom Malaysia, the biggest telecommunication company in Malaysia. In September 2007, he was posted to MIDA New York as Deputy Director. He engaged with multinational companies, associations and chambers of commerce in promoting Malaysia.

 

After completing his service in New York, he attached to the R&D and Design Division as Senior Assistant Director for 1 year. Currently, he attached to the Oil & Gas and Maritime Technology Division. The role of the division is to promote and develop oil & gas industry especially in the services activities in the upstream, midstream and downstream.

 

The division also responsible in promoting tank terminal, manufacturing of machinery and equipment for oil & gas and engineering supporting industry and ship building and ship repair. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Engineering (Instrumentation) from University Technology MARA.

Ts. Sharifah Zaida Nurlisha binti Syed Ibrahim

President, Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC)

"How MOGSC, The National Industry Association can benefit Sabah Oil & Gas Service Providers"

Sharifah Zaida Nurlisha received her Bachelor of Electrical and Engineering degree (BEng(Hons)) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Nottingham University, England.


She began her career as an Instrument Engineer in Sime Engineering Sdn Bhd in 1990 before moving to Project Management discipline, with MMC Oil & Gas Engineering Sdn Bhd in 1995. Her experiences encompasses Project Engineering experiences to Project Manager of different types of Oil & Gas contracts before assuming her current position as CEO in MMC Oil & Gas Engineering Sdn Bhd.


In her 29 years in the oil & gas industry, she have been involved in projects  ranging from Conceptual, FEED, Detailed, Fabrication/Construction and Hookup and Commissioning, EPCC and EPCIC projects locally and also outside of Malaysia.


She has actively served on the council of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC) for 9 years, serving as an elected EXCO for the 2010/2012 tenure, Vice President for 2 terms, 2012/2014 and 2014/2016 and currently the elected President for her 2nd term for year 2018/2020. MOGSC is an NGO serving the Oil & Gas industry, bridging the gap between industry and stakeholders needs and expectation. MOGSC has currently over 500 members from the whole supply chain of the Malaysian Oil & Gas industry.


She was also nominated in 2017, by Amazons Watch Magazine/CELD (Centre for Economic and Leadership Development) to be on of the Top 50 Female Energy Leaders in Emerging Economies (Asia/Africa). Currently, she is a board member of the Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT), an organisation that is responsible to accredit technologist and technicians in Malaysia. She is also appointed to the Majlis Penasihat & Perunding Wanita (MPPW), under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Malaysia for term 2018/2020 to advise, provide feedback and promote women empowerment in Malaysia.

Datuk Dr Johan Arriffin bin Datuk Hj. A Samad

Johan started his working career as a Marketing Executive with a British Trading House, Harper’s Gifillian Sdn. Bhd. based in Kuala Lumpur. After his management training and work exposure in KL, he was posted back to Kota Kinabalu in the trading division. After two years he joined Champion Motors/IDS as Area Manager of Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei selling well known brands like Audi, Land Rovers, Massey Ferguson Tractors and Bedford Trucks. Johan was sent by Inchcape to UK for his management training. He left to join Datuk Harris Salleh group of companies in the Berjaya era to do construction and development projects around Sabah and was Director of Gaya Shipping and Archipelago Shipping Sdn. Bhd, shipping pioneers in Sabah. He was then head hunted by Hanafiah Raslan and Mohamed (HRM) and recruited by Exxonmobil Borneo Ltd as area Manager based in Exxonmobil Malaysia’s office in KLCC. After two years stint in KL he was transferred back to Kota Kinabalu to head Exxonmobil interest in Borneo.

In all his career with the foreign companies, he was the first bumiputra executive from East Malaysia to be recruited in management positions. Johan left Exxonmobil to start his own business but was called by the state government to help start the oil and gas business for Sabah. He spent a 3 months stint as consultant with SEDCO and later was brought to Yayasan Sabah as Deputy Director to take charge of the education portfolio and to spearhead the development of oil and gas business in Sabah. He has also held several directorships.

Academic Qualifications:

Doctorate in Business Administration, from the  University of South Australia. He also hold an MBA in Strategic Marketing from University of Hull, UK and
Diploma in Advanced Marketing from Bristol Polytechnic, UK, and is a life member and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Apart from the company, Johan is a well known writer and columnist at Free Malaysia Today (FMT), the Malaysian Insight and Daily Express, Kota Kinabalu.
Johan is also active in NGO work with G25 group and many NGOs in different fields and interest.
He is also continuing his research and writing in various topics to inform and share with the general public.

 

Nan Yusri bin Nan Rahimy

Nan Yusri bin Nan Rahimy (Malaysian, aged 48, Male) was appointed to the Board on 1 March 2011.

 

He graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (now RMIT University), Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering in 1996.  He has been a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 2004, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 2014 and also an alumni of the INSEAD Business School.

 

Nan Yusri has been involved in the Oil & Gas, and the Energy Industry for more than 20 years.  He joined Deleum Services as a Marketing Executive supporting the turbomachinery business in April 1996 and was later re-designated to Application Engineer in November 1996.  He subsequently held several senior positions within the Group including Senior Marketing Manager, Assistant Vice President - Business Development, Vice President (VP) – Exploration and Production, Chief Operating Officer - Oilfield Services and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Deleum Oilfield Services Sdn. Bhd. (DOSSB). In September 2010, he was promoted to CEO of Deleum Services, the holding company of DOSSB, before being appointed to his current position.

 

He was appointed a Council Member of the Malaysian Gas Association in May 2016. He sits on the Board of International Conference and Exhibition Professionals (iCEP) as Alternate Director to Datuk Vivekananthan a/l M.V. Nathan. He is also a member of the Student Development Advisory Council of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS since December 2014.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Justin Sentian

Head of Climate Change Research Group (CCRG), Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, Universiti Malaysia Sabah

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Justin Sentian is an atmospheric scientist and currently heading the Climate Change Research Group at the Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. He is also a research fellow with the university’s Centre of Disaster Studies and Water Research Unit. Previously he was the Director of the UMS EcoCampus Management Centre (2014-2017) and UMS Centre of Industrial and Community Network (2017-2018). In 2009, he received the Commonwealth Scholarship Awards to pursue his master degree in atmospheric science at the University of East Anglia (UK). He was the Government of Malaysia scholar at  Lancaster University (UK) and obtained his doctoral degree in 2009, specialising in atmospheric chemistry and climate change. Prior to UMS appointment, he worked as Environmental Control Officer with the Federal Department of Environment for seven years.

 

Most of his research and publication contributions are in the areas of atmospheric chemistry, climate change, air quality, meteorology, environmental pollution modeling as well as environmental impact assessment. He has presented more than 60 papers in international and national conferences, seminar and workshops. He has been invited to give lectures on his research works in number of plenary lectures. So far, he has published more than 70 research papers peer reviewed international, national journals and proceedings. He has published two books and expected to publish another book chapter later this year on  “Biomass Burning Emission: Impacts and Its Sources in Malaysian Scenario” in collaboration with NASA.

 

His current research focuses on five projects: a) High resolution regional climate change in Southeast Asia/Malaysia; b) Climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation; c) Greenhouse gas fluxes across tropical forest gradient, which is a collaborative research with the Centre of Ecology and Hydrology, University of Edinburgh and fully funded by NERC, UK; d) Short-lived reactive halocarbon emissions from the tropical coastal environment, which is a research collaborative with research consortium from a number of European universities and fully funded by European Union and NERC, UK; e) tropospheric-stratospheric exchange (STE) of ozone in higher latitude (Antarctica), which is  a collaborative research funded by Yayasan Penyelidikan Antartika Sulatan Mizan (YPASM).

 

In addition, he is a registered consultant with the Department of Environment and actively involved in various environmental consultancy works that related to environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental auditing (EA), and  environmental management plan (EMP). Recently he was appointed by WorldFish (funded by Asian Development Bank) as a climate change specialist for Malaysia in the investigation of climate change vulnerability and adaptation in Tun Mustapha Parks and east coast of Sabah. He was also involved directly in the formulation of the Sabah State Environmental Policy particularly on air quality and climate change.

Honourable Minister Darell Leiking is the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia who was elected into office since July 2018. 

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom and qualified as a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln’s Inn, United Kingdom. He completed his A-level in RIMA College, Kuala Lumpur.

YB Minister Darell has been a Member of Parliament for Penampang, Sabah since 2013, a position which he continues to hold to date. He co-founded Parti Warisan Sabah in 2016, which is a component party of the ruling Government and he is currently serving as its Deputy President.

He was the founder and Principal Partner of Messrs. Leiking Association (Law Firm), founded in 1998.
